He was predeceased by: his parents, William Thomas Bennett Jr. and Hazel Parker Bennett; his wife Angela Bullock Bennett; his sisters, Vickie Lynn Bennett and Ann Bennett Powers; and his brothers-in-law, Joseph Powers and Gary Christensen.
He is survived by: his sisters, Pamela Bennett Bullock (Michael) and Deborah Bennett Christensen; his nephew Lundy Powers (Tamara); and his nieces, Deirdra Dean, Heather Williams (Tray), Lorey Duggan (Mac), Amy Minchenko (Nick) and Lauren Christensen. He is also survived by 13 great-nieces and nephews; and two great-great-nieces.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 12th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Clements Funeral Chapel (1105 Broad St, Durham, NC 27705). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, May 12th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
Flowers are acceptable, as are donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, a favorite charity of Mark's devoted to curing children with childhood cancers.
