With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Michael Lee Russell of Burlington, North Carolina, who passed away on September 3, 2023 at the age of 62. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Betty Jean and George Russell, Jr.; his brother Dennis Wayne Russell; his nephew Master George Russell IV; his grandparents, Sally, George Russell Sr., Eunice Johnson Graves and William Trollinger; and his aunts and uncles, Trudy Johnson, Maddlean Leath, James Russell, Willie Thomas Russell, Charlie Monroe Russell and John Russell.
He is survived by: his children, Sierra Russell Simpson (Eric) of Pelham, NC and Jeremiah Johnson of Burlington, NC; his grandchildren, Saniyah Simpson, Aiyanna Darnell, Isaiah Johnson, Zaire Johnson and Jaleel Johnson; and his siblings, Marilyn Jeannette James (Larry) of Burlington, NC, Jackie Russell Dooley of Washington, DC, Angela Judy Watkins (Michael) of Burlington, NC, Dana Russell Enoch of Yanceyville, NC, George Russell III (Patty) of Burlington, NC and Eric Randy Russell.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, he ministered to and prayed with, and for, his family on a family prayer line that he continued three days a week until his passing.
