She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert B. Covington and Margie Williamson Covington; her husband Clarence Henry Bruce; her siblings, George Covington, Robert Covington and Daisy Brown; and her granddaughter Tara Bruce.
She is survived by: her children, Sharon Bruce, Lavaze B. Wells, Tara Miles (David Sr.), Tonia Bruce, Thomas Turner, David Miles Sr. and Norman Bradshaw; her siblings, Alfred Lee Covington (Arlene), Deloise Freeland and Mary Smith; her grandchildren, Stanley Wells Jr., Latoisha Wells, DeVarrick Turner, Shawn Turner and David Miles Jr.; her great grandchild Ayden "The Man" McGee; and her close friend Damita Turner (David).
