She was predeceased by: her husband Don Hurst, Sr.; her parents, Carl Simpson and Maggie Allen Simpson; her daughter-in-law Jennifer Hurst; her siblings, Joyce Flor and Jimmy Smith; and her grandparents, Charlie and Cora Allen.

She is survived by: her sons, Don Hurst, Jr. (JoAnn Moss) of Burlington, Jim Hurst (Marie) of Elon and Fred Hurst (Gail) of Monks Corner, SC; her sister Shirley Simpson; her grandchildren, Jamie Hurst (Heather), Suzanne Clayton (Tommy), Ashley Bukay, Kristi Owens, Nolan Hurst, Laura Black, Lindsey Black and Butler Graham; her great grandchildren, Nevaeh, James Michael, Christian, Morgan, Evan, Kaleigh, Ella, Alexander and Thomas; and her nieces, Mattie Jean Thorne (Lance), Liberty and Janet Troxler (Earl) of Burlington.
