We are sad to announce that, on May 27, 2026, at the age of 79, Richard Eugene Ackerman in Burlington, North Carolina passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Eugene Ackerman and Cora Imogene Cornett Ackerman; and his wife Dale Rudd Ackerman. He is survived by: his children, Elizabeth Childs (Mark), Julie Hiatt (Charlie), Chris Ackerman (Valerie) and Brice Ackerman (Elisa); his grandchildren, Amanda Penberthy (Nick), Lexie Childs, Emma Ackerman, Gene Ackerman, Will Ackerman, Ridge Hiatt, Cristin Ackerman and Ryder Hiatt; his great grandchildren, Parker Dale Penberthy and Caden Penberthy; his brother Bill Ackerman (Michele); and his nephews, Thomas Ackerman and James Ackerman (Kelly). He is also survived by his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
