He was predeceased by : his parents, Cyril Roscoe and Eleanor E. Vanek VanSlyke; and his sisters-in-law, Shirley Hall and June Maynard. He is survived by : his wife Carol Zinn VanSlyke; his children, David J. VanSlyke (Shirley) of Salisbury, NC, Diane VanSlyke (George McPheeters) of Hawaii and Darlene VanSlyke (Myron Prevatte) of Burlington; his grandchildren, Heather Marley (Brandon), Samuel VanSlyke (Morgan), Aaron VanSlyke (Tricia), Preston Prevatte and Mackenzi Prevatte; his great grandchildren, Luke Marley, Andrew Marley, James VanSlyke, Annalie VanSlyke and Elijah VanSlyke; and his siblings, Gary VanSlyke (Elida) of Mesa and Janis Arendt. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and his canine companion.
