He was predeceased by: his nephew James Todd "T. J." Rhodes, Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Patricia Brannock Rhodes; his children, Herbert H. Rhodes (Sarah Byers Rhodes), Delaney Brannock Rhodes of Mokpo and Cameron Scott Rhodes; his siblings, Dawn Rhodes Hurdle (Willie) of Burlington, Herbert M. "Chip" Rhodes (Peggy Jo) of Wilmington, James Todd Rhodes, Sr. (Nina) of Roxboro and Christopher D. Rhodes (Susanne) of Burlington; his sister-in-law Jane Brannock of Burlington; his nieces and nephews, Dustin Hurdle (Cara), Tadd Rhodes, Casey Parker (Matthew), Will Rhodes, Sam Rhodes, Grier Briggs, Thomas "Skip" Rodney and Kelly Bradshaw (Craig); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Ben Hurdle, Blake Hurdle, Sara Margaret Parker, Taylor Bradshaw, Victoria Bradshaw, Grant Bradshaw and Garrett Bradshaw.
