He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Ray and Beulah Ann Williamson Cox; his wife Joyce Elaine Tuck Cox; his daughter Tammy Dixon; and his brothers, James, Lee, Ray, Glenn and Roger Cox.

He is survived by: his daughter Kandy Fuller of Burlington; his grandchildren, Brittany Thomas (Drew) of Burlington, Eric Williams of Florida and April Cates (Jesse) of Burlington; his great grandchildren, Audrey Patrick, Braylynn Patrick, Caiden Jones, Clayton Thomas and Emily Thomas; his siblings, Sarah Hunter (Rick) of Burlington, Shirley Leath of Burlington, Charles Cox (Deborah) of Elon, Jerry Cox (Anita) of Jonesville, NC, Billy Cox (Sissy) of Burlington and Kenneth Cox (Lynette) of Reidsville; and his son-in-law Lawrence Dixon, Jr. of Mebane. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
