He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Worth Zimmerman and Lillie Iola Apple Zimmerman; his brothers, Raymond and Wade Zimmerman; and his daughter Kelly Lisa Zimmerman.
He is survived by: his wife Sarah Lou Rudd Zimmerman; and his children, Walter W. Zimmerman (Helena) of Dallas, Texas, Teresa Smith (Gary) of Gibsonville, Robin Cain of Burlington and Vickie Branson (Parker) of Gibsonville. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
