He was predeceased by: his parents, Astrid Eckman and Waldamor G. Eckman; and his brother James Eckman. He is survived by: his wife Janet "Jan" Tharaldsen; his children, Gretchen Porter (Ed), Tom Eckman (Nadya) and Linda Crowder (Jay); his sister Carolyn Schultz; his sister-in-law Marva Eckman; and his brother Thomas Eckman (Janie). He is also survived by ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
