He is survived by: his mother Joyce Griffin Smith of Mars Hill; his children, Buddy Lee Smith of South Carolina and Ashley Smith of Concord; his siblings, Beth Franklin (Aaron) of Big Laurel and Joe Smith (Tracy) of Newport, TN; his brother-in-law Terry Norton of Mars Hill; and his uncle Howell Smith of Weaverville.
