He was predeceased by: his parents, Madge Thomas Gurley and Charles Richard Gurley; and his brothers, Jody Gurley, Curtis Gurley and Gerald Gurley.
He is survived by: his wife Mattie Lee Gurley; his children, Angela Beam of Spruce Pine, Jody Hollifield of Spruce Pine, Duston Hollifield of Spruce Pine and Leslie Gurley of Spruce Pine; his grandsons, Austin Greene and Anthony Greene of Bakersville; and his sister Penny Hensley of Marion.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to the charity of one's choice.
