She was predeceased by: her father James Hughes, Jr.; and her former husband Charles Miller. She is survived by: her mother Bernice Buchanan Hughes of Ledger; her husband Joe Griffith; her children, Melanie Duncan (Russell) of Spruce Pine and Nicholas Miller (Sarah) of Tipton Hill; her father-in-law Scott Griffith of Tipton Hill; her grandsons, Roman Miller, Jonathan Yelton and Seth Woody; and her siblings, Dennis Hughes (Tina) of Spruce Pine, Deborah Street of Buladean and Barbara Black (Brett) of Asheboro. She is also survived by Several nieces, nephews and other extended family.

Pallbearers will be: David Honeycutt, Jonathan Yelton, David Gouge, Doug Gouge, Cody Miller, Allen Wilson, Hudson Vaughn and Bailey Black The family would like to say a special thank you to Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge for the wonderful care given to Elaine and requests memorial donations be made to them at 236 Hospital Drive, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.
