She was predeceased by: her parents, Rexter Miller and Etta Adkins Miller; her husband Clayton Lee Whitson; her children, Angela Gwen Whitson Byrd, Mike Lee Whitson and Dennis Allen Whitson; and her grandmother Christian.
She is survived by: her daughter Mista Whitson (Joe); her grandchildren, Alicia Shelton (Tim) of Weaverville, Hannah Gosnell (Garland) of Weaverville, Lyle Byrd (Meghan) of Burnsville and Lydia Singer (David) of Brooksville; her great grandchildren, Tyler Shelton (Hanna), Corey, Boone Gosnell, Clay and Melody Singer; and her children-in-law, Tony Byrd (Teresa) of Burnsville and Geraldine Whitson of Weaverville.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Yancey Funeral Services (378 Charlie Brown Rd, Burnsville, NC 28714). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 at 3:00 PM at the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services (378 Charlie Brown Rd, Burnsville, NC 28714).
