It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jacquelyn Peterson of Burnsville, North Carolina, who passed away on December 7, 2025, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her mother Myrtle Irene McIntosh Peterson; and her sisters, Maxie Hunter and Billie Peterson Byrd Johnson. She is survived by: her sister Helen Peterson of Burnsville; her sibling's children, Ellen Miller of Red Hill, Tony Byrd of Jacks Creek, Ricky Byrd (Myra) of Burnsville, Lisa Franklin of Blue Rock, Jimmy Hunter (Angelita) of Chester, VA, Louis Hunter of Atlanta, GA, Maria Anderson (Rich) of Marion and Blake Hunter of Johnson City, TN; and her friend Pam Anglin. She is also survived by 13 great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 12th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Yancey Funeral Services (378 Charlie Brown Rd, Burnsville, NC 28714). A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 12th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 13th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Proffitt Cemetery (112 Grasshopper Ln, Burnsville, NC 28714).
