It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Ralph McDowell (Burnsville, North Carolina), who passed away on January 26, 2024, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his parents, Wallace McDowell and Alma Lawing McDowell; and his siblings, Ophia Ogle, Faye Buchanan, Katie Gregory and J. B. McDowell of Burnsville, NC..

He is survived by : his wife Jerri McDowell; his daughters, Debbie Ducker (Doug) and Kim Johnson (Chris); his grandchildren, Ryan Ducker (Olivia), Haley Wilson (Kevin), Adrienne Starling and Erika Fox (Austin); and his great grandchildren, Greyson, Hayden, Peyton, Sawyer, Asher, Isabelle, Ryder, Quinn, River, Luke, Nash, Benson and Clara Harris. He is also survived by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in memory of Ralph to Compassionate Care WNC at 856 Georges Fork Road, Burnsville, NC 28714.
