He is survived by: his wife Pat Thomas Robinson; his daughter Christi Lee (Vic) of Charlotte; his grandson Mitchell Lee; his siblings, Wanda of Marion, Gordia of South Toe, Leta of South Toe, Danny of Marion, Larry of Morganton, Joe of Asheville, Ann of Newland and Deana of Marion; and his sister-in-law Nancey Huskins of Blue Rock.

“I knew Kurl for a short time. I stopped by Rosemary and Wood and talked with him a couple of times just before he died. I bought a zebra wood cutting board and he took a pattern of an oven push-pull. I hope he had time to make some, Gordia. I wanted to stop by when ya'll were there, but alas, husband in a hurry to get home. My thought was he had a good life. My love to you all! Donna Messenger”
