She was predeceased by: her parents, Oss Whitson and Viola Edwards Whitson; and her husbands, Bobby Bennett, Jr. and Charles Renfro. She is survived by: her daughters, Peggy Evans (Billy) of Pigeon Roost and Christie Stockton (Chris) of Bakersville; her grandchildren, Bobby Evans (Megan) of Marion, Krista Stockton (Malachi Staton) of Bakersville and Brandy Boone (Jamie) of Pigeon Roost; her great grandchildren, Addyson, Peyton Evans, Charlie Lynn, Willa Jean Boone, Daniel, Emma and Kasey Berry; and her siblings, Patsy Johnson of Jacks Creek, Ralph Whitson (Polly) of Green Mountain, Rev. Ronnie Whitson (Fredia) of Green Mountain and Royce Whitson (Debbie) of Marion.
Visitation was held on Thursday, October 22nd 2026 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Yancey Funeral Services (378 Charlie Brown Rd, Burnsville, NC 28714). A funeral service was held on Thursday, October 22nd 2026 at 5:00 PM at the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services (378 Charlie Brown Rd, Burnsville, NC 28714). A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Bennett Cemetery.
