We announce the death of Eddie Gay Lawson of Camden, North Carolina, who passed away on October 19, 2026, at the age of 87. Eddie will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Audphor Ancil Lawson and Essie Smith Lawson; his son Steve Lawson; his siblings, Ann Salmons (Leonard) and Tommy Lawson; and his wife Mary Kaye Lawson.
He is survived by: his children, Mary Jeanni Old (Jerry) and Curtis Lawson (Elaina); his siblings, Jo Bays, Helen Jean Jones (Ron) and Freddie Lawson (Ruth Anne); his grandchildren, Stephanie Berry (Jason), Michael Dean Lawson (Kelley), Christopher Lawson, Robert Adam Lawson, Travis Old, Trevor Old (Alex) and Tristan Old; his daughter-in-law Darlene Lawson; and his sister-in-law Jean Lawson. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 25th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Twiford Funeral Homes (405 E Church St, Elizabeth City, NC 27909). The military honors will be held on Thursday, November 12th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Jr. Memorial Veteran's Cemetery (5310 Milners Rd, Suffolk, VA 23464).
