He was predeceased by: his parents, Karl David and Laura Smithling (Rice); his spouse Kay M. Zehr; his sister Martha Gokey; and his son-in-law Romeyn A. Noftsier.
He is survived by: his children, Cathy L. Martin (Peter) of Lowville, Karl D. Smithling, Jeanette A. Turner (Peter), Daryl E. Smithling (Shanny) and Rhonda S. Noftsier of Lowville. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 11th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Croghan Mennonite Church (7048 Kirschnerville Rd, Croghan, NY 13327). A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 11th 2025 at 12:30 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Friday, July 11th 2025 at the Lowville Rural Cemetery (7799 NY-12, Lowville, NY 13367).
