He was predeceased by: his father Jack Dempsey Childress. He is survived by: his mother Ruby Kennedy Childress (Neil); his children, Rachel Childress Burns (Darin) of Sanford, Wendi Childress Mundy (Jimmy) of Virginia, Michael Bryan Childress of Sanford and Jason Lee Childress of Cameron; and his siblings, Deborah Small (Bob) of Ohio, Mark Childress (Barbara) of Southern Pines and Jerry Childress (Linda) of Moncure. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
