He was predeceased by: his parents, John Phillips and Gladys Pruitt Phillips; and his siblings, Larry Phillips, Betty Phillips, Mary Lou Zellner and Ruby Benson.
He is survived by: his sons, Mark Phillips (Brenda) of Arden, Travis Phillips of Simpsonville and Justin Phillips of Birmingham, Alabama.; his grandchildren, Colt and Diesel Phillips; his brother-in-law Ken Zellner; his cousins, Louetta Constance and Ronnie Benson (Sarah); Brian.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 17th 2025 from 8:45 AM to 9:15 AM at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park (1 Chapel of Faith Dr, Candler, NC 28715). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 17th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery (962 Old US Hwy 70, Black Mountain, NC 28711).
