He is survived by: his wife Kimberly Poteat; his children, Allison Poteat, Chastity Lynn, Mark Poteat Jr. (Brittney), Summer Messer (Travis), Zaiden Poteat, Brandi Crouse, Touree Poteat and Bill Poteat; his grandchildren, Brandon, Abbie, Makayla, Logan, Lucas, Brooklyn, Isabella, Jaxxon, Zayne, Chevy, Lilith, Caspian and Abbigail; his brother Ronald; his sister-in-law Phyllis Poteat; and his nephews, Pete Poteat and Jay Watkins.
A memorial service was held on Wednesday, September 2nd 2026 at 4:00 PM at the Calvary Church (531 Haywood Rd, Asheville, NC 28806).
