It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Martha McElrath Pitts of Candler, North Carolina, who passed away on September 15, 2025, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband Homer Pitts; her sons, Jerry Anderson and Randy Anderson; her siblings, Bobby McElrath and Phyllis McElrath; and her parents, Lucille Cope and Moody McElrath.
She is survived by: her daughters, Sandy Trull (Tony) of Candler and Angie Gibson (David) of Candler; her siblings, Mary Reece (Max) of Warne, Barbara Miller (Terry) of Candler, Audrey Worley (late Doug) of Acworth, GA, Vicky Donaldson (Roger) of Hayesville, Max McElrath of Canton and Richard Cope of Morganton; and her grandchildren, Brook James (Jake) of Candler, Corey Swafford of Candler, Michelle Swafford of Candler, Aaron Trull (Tara) of Candler and Cleda Anderson Green (Dustin) of Murphy. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
