He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Welty and Mary Ludlam Welty; and his children, Monique Louise Welty and Robert Lee Welty II. He is survived by: his wife Geneva Riddle Welty; his daughters, Brandy Branscum (Daniel Branscum) of Fletcher, NC, Gretchen Anderson of Candler, NC and Greta Burns (Eric Burns) of Candler, NC; his siblings, Norma Moore, Jan Lamca, Diana Miller and Kenny Welty; his grandchildren, Ashleigh Sigmon (Blake Sigmon) of Candler, NC, Holly Stepp (Taylor Stepp) of Candler, NC, Little Daniel Branscum of Candler, NC, Samantha Anderson of Candler, NC, Bryant Anderson of Candler, NC, Caroline Childers of Candler, NC, Maddie Burns of Candler, NC, Blake Burns of Candler, NC, Brent Welty, Robert Welty and Megan Welty; and his great grandchildren, Farrah Sigmon, Remi Step, Wesson Step, Melody Welty, Aidan Norwood, Raeleigh Norwood, Haley Welty, Bryson Welty, William Childers, Jaden Welty and Henry Childers.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 7th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the Maple Ridge Baptist Church (133 Medford Branch Rd, Candler, NC 28715).
