He was predeceased by: his parents, Ray Whiteside and Alice Whiteside; his daughter Debra Lynn Carpenter; his brothers, Don Whiteside, Jack Whiteside, Dennis "Mickey" Whiteside, Roger Whiteside and Steven Whiteside; and his sisters-in-law, Shirley Whiteside, Barbara Whiteside, Pat Whiteside and Rochelle Whiteside.
He is survived by: his daughters, Joy Whiteside and Lee Simmons; his son-in-law Joshua Simmons; his grandchildren, Cecilia Simmons, Gareth Simmons, Audrey Simmons and Eloise Simmons; his sisters, Beki (Ronnie Taylor), Sheila Hunter and Diane (Bruce Jenkins); and his son Tim. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
