He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward C. Whitaker Sr. and Myrtle Thomason Whitaker; his wife Ruby Green Whitaker; his daughter Peggy Bowers; and his sister Ruth Kelly.
He is survived by: his son Charlie Whitaker of Canton; and his grandsons, Cody Whitaker, Tyler Bowers and Zachary Bowers.
