He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward "Ed" Smith and Gertrude Lovingood Smith; and his mother-in-law Edith Capps. He is survived by: his wife Patricia Capps Smith of Canton; his daughters, Amy Smith of Franklin and Becky Ray (Shawn) of Asheville; and his stepson Jason Carver of Campobello, SC. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren; his pet dogs.
