She was predeceased by: her parents, Helen Halonen Routley and Elvie Routley; the father of her children Robert Apfel; her husband Vern Shaver; and her siblings, Helen, Sandy, Elvie and Linda.
She is survived by: her children, Dawn VanGuilder, Lisa Ledford (Donnie), Wesley Apfel, Dale Apfel (Connie), Curtis Apfel and Darrell Apfel (Denise); and her brothers, Curtis Routley and Ray Routley (Bonnie). She is also survived by 22 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 13th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Canton First Baptist Church (208 Academy St, Canton, NC 28716).
