He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Lee Banks and Neva Swayngim Banks; his wife Mathilda "Hilda" Scharpf Banks; his siblings, Dan Banks and Brenda Whitefield; and his son-in-law David Lane.
He is survived by: his children, Donna Jean Cope (Michael) of Canton, Sandra Elizabeth Lane of Georgetown, TX, Dr. William Douglas Banks (Wendy) of Asheville and Teresa Viola Swaringen (Kip) of Wendell, NC. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
