He was predeceased by: his parents, Lloyd R. Nivens and Merle Lee Nivens; and his daughters, Jane and Joan Maxine Nivens. He is survived by: his significant other Shelby Maxine Nivens of Britt's Donut Shop; his daughter Lynn Prusa (Joe Prusa); his granddaughters, Halyn Blackburn (Chase Blackburn) and Bobbi Meyer (Adam Meyer); and his great grandchildren, Britt Blackburn, Hudson Blackburn and Rowan Meyer.
In lieu of flowers, Mr. and Mrs. Nivens have requested that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Carolina Beach, North Carolina.
