He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Ronald Edward of Souza and Patricia Eileen of Souza; his family Nadia; his sons, Jason and Sam; his grandchildren, Tyler, Jordan and Paige; and his brother Patrick Richard Edmund (Janet Thomson) of Souza.
He received a Rockefeller Foundation Grant to teach at the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
