It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Barbara Nichols Holmes (Cary, North Carolina), born in Buffalo, New York, who passed away on July 20, 2025, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her daughter Elizabeth; her brother Ted Nichols; her parents, Margaret Beltz Nichols and William Nichols; and her niece Kristin Nichols.
She is survived by: her children, Katie Holmes (Christine) of Cary, NC and Jeff Holmes (Amy) of Greensboro, NC; her grandchildren, Tia Holmes (Patrick), Natalya Ryan, Nicholas Holmes and Eli Holmes; and her brothers, William Nichols (Helen) and Robert Nichols. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
During Covid she embraced on-line learning, participating in OLLI and Smithsonian classes on a variety of topics.
