She was predeceased by: her parents, Dr. Henry C. Brooks, Jr. and Joyce Ingalls Brooks; and her sister Linda Brooks Ratelle. She is survived by: her siblings, Joyce Talley and Henry Brooks, III of Atlanta; her children, Marie Gibbons, Kathryn Gibbons (Kitty), Ron Gibbons, Jackson Barbee (Shannon Barbee), Gabe Barbee, Ian Viana and Ethan Viana; her husband Dr. Dennis Shelden; her children, Will Barbee, Annie Barbee and Brooks Barbee; and also Dr. Elizabeth Barbee Gibbons (Gregory R. Gibbons) of Cary.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, July 23rd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the St. Paul's Episcopal Church (221 Union St, Cary, NC 27511).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church or to Transitions LifeCare in Raleigh.
