He is survived by: his wife Mafalda "Mafi" Haydee Popovich; his children, Mark Conrad Popovich (LuAnn) and Nicole Marie Popovich (Daniel); his grandchildren, Alexander Conrad Popovich, Caitlyn Brianna Bunch (Tyler) and Camryn Jaye Delosreyes (Alexia); his great grandchildren, Ryder and Bryer Bunch; his sister Jane Ortiz; and his nephew Jason Ortiz.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in John's name be sent to Saint Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Apex, North Carolina.
