He was predeceased by : his parents, Ray Edwin Smith and Frances Allen Smith; and his wife Adelaide Whyel Smith. He is survived by : his children, Christina Hall (Ernie), Katharine Boles (Barry) and Matthew Smith (Jessye); his grandchildren, Victoria (Jim), Spencer (Jenna), Alexander (Madison) and Elizabeth; his children, Madeline, Davis, Avery, Lauren and Ashley; and his great grandchildren, Leo and Owen.

Memorial contributions may be made to the National Parks Organization (give.nationalparks.org) in Kent's honor.
