She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Hampton Monk, Sr. and Mary Josina Stokes Monk; her husband Shade A. Wooten Sr.; her in-laws, Jack and Dixie Wooten; her siblings, Joe Monk Jr., Geraldine Monk Ritchie, Elizabeth Monk Lasley and Martha Monk; and her close friend Malcolm "Mal" Chapman.
She is survived by: her children, Shade A. "Chip" Wooten, Jr. (Lisa) of Cary and BJ Gibbs (John) of Waxhaw; her grandchildren, Shade Allen Wooten, III (Melina Gozzo Wooten), Bryant Wooten (John Wayand), Lezlie Williams of Raleigh, Lindsay Gibbs Sansbury (Griff Sansbury) and Gordon Gibbs of Asheville; her great grandchildren, Sutton and Margaret "Maisie" Sansbury of Charlotte; and her nephews, Mike Lancaster, Joe Monk, Stokes Ritchie and Mac Ritchie. She is also survived by ten nieces and nephews.
