He was predeceased by: his parents, Sidney Overbey and Hazel Farrar Overbey; and his son-in-law Donnie Dement. He is survived by: his children, Janet Freeland (James L.), Sharon Dement and Gary W. Overbey (Crystal); and his grandchildren, Teighla Norris (Adam), Richard B. Triplett, Cameron J. Triplett (Kymree), Lori Freeland (Weber Massengale), Alec Dement (Anna), Connor Overbey (Shanna), James A. Freeland and Evan Dement (Sadie Graham). He is also survived by eight loving great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 28th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the McClure Funeral Home Chapel (1308 S 3rd St, Mebane, NC 27302). A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 28th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
