He was predeceased by: his parents, William Chester McCleney and Daisey Marie Carter McCleney; and his brother Richard Franklin McCleney. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Duncan McCleney; his sons, Hubert Mitchell McCleney (Becky) of Evergreen and William Brian McCleney (Emily) of Chadbourn; his sister Frances Hart of Chadbourn; his grandchildren, Ryan McCleney (Meagan), Joshua McCleney, Austin McCleney, Abby McCleney, Emma Grace McCleney, Daniel Britt (Morgan) and Lauren Wayland (Nicholas); and his great grandchildren, Harper McCleney, Eli McCleney, Luke McCleney, Mabry Britt, Jones Britt, John Noah Wayland, Leah Blake Wayland and Mary Ella Wayland.
Visitation was held on Monday, January 12th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Worthington Funeral Home (405 E Strawberry Blvd, Chadbourn, NC 28431). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 13th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Piney Forest Baptist Church (4509 Andrew Jackson Hwy SW, Chadbourn, NC 28431).
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Samaritans Purse Operation Christmas Child or to the Piney Forest Baptist Church building fund.
