He was predeceased by: his parents, Inez Nobles Long and Nolan Long; and his sisters, Evelyn Ward, Doris Strickland, Velma Spruill, Debbie Etheridge and Brenda Hilbourn.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Ann Lee Long; his daughters, Sylvia Ezzell (Bobby), Phyllis McPherson (Glenn), Carol Sellers, Rebecca Hewett (Fabian) and Nada Weatherford; his grandchildren, Corey McPherson, Wesley Williams, Emily Hewett, Tristan Sellers, Cole Weatherford and Brooke Hewett; and his great grandchildren, Bracyson McPherson, Levi McPherson, Cashlynn Williams and Jaxton Sibbett.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 9th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM at the Worthington Funeral Home (405 E Strawberry Blvd, Chadbourn, NC 28431). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 9th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Tuesday, September 9th 2025 at the Ward Station Church of God (5478 Rough and Ready Rd, Chadbourn, NC 28431).
