Though Vema may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in the memories held dear by her family and friends, a guiding light that illuminates their paths in times of darkness.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Carvin Cartrette and Retha Worley Cartrette; and her husband William Martin "Buddy" Cribb. She is survived by: her daughter Starr Godwin (Neal); her grandchildren, Reverend Cody Godwin and Alison Walker; and her siblings, Linwood Cartrette (Sheila) and Faye Simmons (Ricky). She is also survived by her three nieces and one nephew and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 27th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Beaverdam Original Free Will Baptist Church (2665 Beaverdam Rd, Chadbourn, NC 28431). A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 28th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
