It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Deryl Franklin Merritt of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, who passed away on February 13, 2024, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his sister Jewel M. Blackwood; his parents, Lonie P. Merritt and Jesse W. Merritt; his brother Watts Merritt; and his nephew Glenn Merritt.
He is survived by : his wife Joanne S. Merritt; his nephews, Geary Blackwood (Lisa), Charles Blackwood (Lisa) and Ricky Merritt (Lynn); his niece Norma M. Davis (Carlton); his great-nieces, Jordan Frye (Corey), Jesse Blackwood (Drew) and Jessica Allison (Chris); his great-nephew Casey Blackwood (Flora); and also, Hunter Merritt Frye and Bryson Ellis Frye.
