We announce the death of Frances DeHart of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, born in Durham, North Carolina, who passed away on August 24, 2026, at the age of 93. Frances will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, John Hughes Roberts and Sara Herbert Roberts. She is survived by: her siblings, Margaret R. Thomas and J. Hughes Roberts Jr. (Margaret); her children, J. Peyton DeHart (Jane), William DeHart Jr. (Vickie) and Sara DeHart Young (Scott); her grandchildren, Erich DeHart (Gia), Sarah Jane Whisenhunt (Phil), Ashlyn DeHart (Max), Savannah Smith (Chad) and Sophie Speir (Alex); and her great grandchildren, Logan DeHart, Chase DeHart, Rambo Whisenhunt, Peyton Whisenhunt, Max Graham IV and Emerson Smith.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Church of the Holy Family (200 Hayes Rd, Chapel Hill, NC 27517).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Fisher House Foundation (https://www.fisherhouse.org), Frances' favorite charity supporting military families.
