He was predeceased by: his brother Col. Thomas Duvall Roberts II; his son-in-law David; and his parents, Anne Dwyer Roberts and Heyward Bradford Roberts. He is survived by: his children, Mary Ellen Gabriel (Rick Gabriel), Katherine Roberts and Charles Roberts; his grandchildren, Bennett, Hugh Gabriel, Serena and Daniel Welch; his sister-in-law Marty Roberts; and his wife Peggy Lucille House.
A graveside service was held on Tuesday, September 30th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Westwood Cemetery (100 Public Work Drive, Carrboro, NC 27510). A reception was held on Tuesday, September 30th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Walker's Funeral Home of Chapel Hill (11680 US Hwy 15 501, Chapel Hill, NC 27517).
