She was predeceased by: her parents, J. B. Hyde and Annie Belle Cutts; her husband Jeter Wanger Harward; her siblings, Lillie H. Grissom and Henry "Gene" Hyde; and her nieces, Peggy Grissom, Patsy G. Watkins and Judy G. Watkins.
She is survived by: her sister-in-law Roxada H. Story; and her close friends, Judy Milton, Oscar Parrott, Shelley Whitehead and Bethel Church. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Bethel Baptist Church (9326 Bethel Hickory Grove Church Rd, Chapel Hill, NC 27516). A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, St. Jude Children's Hospital, Tunnel to Towers or the Masonic home for Children; four organizations that were near and dear to Nellie's heart. Consider a donation, as requested by the family.
