He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Lee and Ann Lee Driggers Carpenter; and his siblings, Charles E. Carpenter and Marie Carpenter Hamilton (Ray). He is survived by: his siblings, Mark Carpenter (Sonia) of Emerald Isle, NC, Peggy Carpenter Rigsbee of Chapel Hill and Lorie Carpenter Atkins (Allan) of Rougemont, NC; his nephew David Hamilton (Sherry) of Henderson, NC; Church. He is also survived by several other nieces and nephews.
