With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Richard Judson Richardson of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, who passed away on June 23, 2025 at the age of 90. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Jewel Judson Richardson and Naomi Fern Richardson. He is survived by: his wife Sammie Sue; his children, Jon Mark Richardson (Lori), Anna Cecile Loeffler (Mike), Ellen Elizabeth Higley (Don) and Megan Leigh Mercer (Patrick); his grandchildren, Ashley Nicole, Daniel Mark, Hannah Rachel, Noah Michael, Adelyn Michelle, Ryan Elizabeth, Ava Leigh, Judson Strong, Cameron Watson and Jonathan Michael; and his niece Melissa Ann Wilson. He is also survived by 13 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 12th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Mt Carmel Baptist Church (2016 Mt Carmel Church Rd, Chapel Hill, NC 27517). Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 12th 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church (2016 Mt Carmel Church Rd, Chapel Hill, NC 27517).
