He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe McMullen Sr. and Polly Louise McMullen; and his brother Joe McMullen Jr.. He is survived by: his daughter Shondra McMullen Whatley (Speedy'); his granddaughter Neriah Whatley; his nephew Brian Christopher Johnson; his great-nephew Brian Christopher Johnson, Jr.; his great-nieces, Christina, Jazmin and Chloe Johnson; and his cousins, Helen Eggleston, Claude Boyd (Roberta), Terry, Muncie (Havana) and Alice Cummings. He is also survived by other family members and friends.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 1st 2026 from 4:00 PM to 4:30 PM at the Grier Funeral Service (115 John McCarroll Ave, Charlotte, NC 28216). A memorial service was held on Tuesday, September 1st 2026 at 4:30 PM at the same location.
