Broocks Markham Kale Obituary

With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Broocks Markham Kale of Charlotte, North Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on December 14, 2025 at the age of 78. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, John E. Markham, Sr. and Elsie Broocks Markham Durham. She is survived by: her husband James Edward Kale, III; her children, James Edward Kale, IV and Virginia Kale Shaw (Charles Alderman Shaw); her granddaughters, Lucy Alderman Shaw of Charlotte and Mary Charles Shaw of Charlotte; her brothers, John E. Markham, Jr. (Sally Buie Durham) and Samuel P. Markham of Wilmington, NC; and her sisters-in-law, Jane Kale Abernethy (Sonny) of Lincolnton and Virginia Kale Flowers (Jim).

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Samaritan's Purse, Central Church of God Charlotte, or The Human Society of Charlotte.
