He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Burns and Hazel Foster Burns. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth "Betsy" Burns; his children, Kelly Burns McClain (William McClain) and Charles Dean Burns Jr. (Lori Appleton Burns); and his grandchildren, William McClain Jr., Matthew McClain, Michael Burns, Katherine McClain and Alex Burns.
